An island is 900mm of floor you do not get back.
Most kitchen islands in Dubai are sold before anyone checks whether the room can carry one. The rule is simple and it is not negotiable: you need 1,000mm of clear walkway on every side an island is used from, and 1,100mm on any side where someone will sit or where an appliance door swings. Less than that and two people cannot pass while the dishwasher is open. We measure that first, and if your room cannot take an island we say so at the site visit rather than after the deposit.
When it does fit, an island is the most useful thing in the kitchen. Ours are built as real joinery, not a decorative block: deep pan drawers on the working side, custom cabinets sized for what you actually store, and a stone top templated on site so the waterfall edge lines up with the grain running down both sides. In a book-matched slab that alignment is the whole effect, and it cannot be fixed afterwards.
If the room is too narrow, a peninsula does most of the same work against a wall — seating on one side, storage on the other, and no walkway lost on the fourth edge. We will show you both layouts in 3D before you choose.

WHAT AN ISLAND CAN DO
Complete Refit
Demolition through handover, under one team. One warranty covers the whole job — not just the cabinets — so nothing falls through the gap between trades.
Storage both sides
Deep pan drawers facing the cooking side, cupboards or open shelving facing the room. An island with storage on one face only wastes half of itself.
Breakfast seating
An overhang of 300mm for stools, 380mm if people will sit properly. Seating needs 1,100mm behind it to pull a stool out — that is the clearance most layouts get wrong.
Waterfall stone
The worktop mitred and run down both ends to the floor, with the veining continuing through the joint. Book-matched marble or quartzite makes the most of it.
Hob or sink in the island
Possible, but it means moving gas or drainage into the floor slab — which needs NOC approval and adds cost. We price it honestly at the survey rather than discovering it later.

How much space do I need for a kitchen island in Dubai?
At least 1,000mm of clear walkway on every side the island is used from, and 1,100mm on any side with seating or where an appliance door opens. As a rough guide, a room narrower than 3.6m usually cannot take a full island — but a peninsula often still works.
What is the minimum size for a useful island?
About 1,200mm × 900mm. Below that it becomes a table rather than storage, because the drawers get too shallow to hold pans. If the room only allows something smaller, a peninsula is the better use of the same space.
Can I have a hob or sink in the island?

What is a waterfall island?
The worktop is mitred at 45 degrees and continues down both ends to the floor, so the stone appears to fold over the edge. With book-matched marble or quartzite the veining runs unbroken through the joint. It uses roughly 40% more stone than a flat top — worth knowing before you compare quotes.
Which stone is best for an island?

Can an apartment kitchen take an island?
